Living Arrows: Week Eight

We went to soft play. I should just leave it there for our Living Arrows update this week. Having seen a couple of our friends do the same with their babies lately, we thought it was time to check it out. Monkey is crawling like a rocket now, standing well and has started walking himself along things… to put it simply, he’s off.

Along with great movement comes great bruises (him) and great terror (me). Our house is baby friendly in some respects but also a death trap. His favourite toy is the coffee table, complete with hard, sharp corners that are just at the right height for a little boy’s face. I spend my entire existence with my hands over the edge whilst saying ‘careful’ like a broken record. Anyway, I digress.

Living Arrows Week Eight Softplay

Off we trotted to soft play. If you’re planning making a trip, I suggest taking someone with you who’ll enjoy going in with your child. That was my plan. It left me on the sidelines ‘looking after the bags’ whilst the boys had a bit of bonding time together. It was loud, bright and apparently incredible in the eyes of our baby! He loved walking around the activity table, watching the older children (it’s his latest obsession!) and knocking over the foam towers that his Daddy built. Meanwhile, I loved the cake, the chance for some Kindle time and the exhausted baby that I got back at the end. Win win!!

Great photos. Isn’t soft play amazing? It guarantees a nice sleepy baby at the end. With daddy being off this week and mummy in work I think they’ll have a few jaunts to the soft play!

It was SO good. No bruises, no tidying up and an exhausted baby at the end – bliss!!

As much as soft play can be a nightmare for parents – it’s amazing to see how much the kids actually love it! #livingarrows

I know – he was having SO much fun!!

Definitely go with others. N always wants me to drag round after him so it is good to go with friends #livingarrows

I think so too… preferably other couples so I have a mum to chat and relax with whilst the guys take over for once!!

I’ve not ventured in to soft play centres yet… I might do soon though #LivingArrows

It was hideous and incredible all at the same time!

My boys love going to soft play and to be honest I do too. They are all at the age now where I can sit on the sidelines and they are all happy to play together!

    • DevonMamaOnline 21st February 2017 at 10:41 pm

Sounds perfect!! It was fine by me to leave it as father and son time but if we have more and they can entertain each other in there then even better!!

I’m quite lucky that my daughter will go in and play alone but she’s almost 3! Definitely take someone with you 🙂 he’s beautiful!

    • DevonMamaOnline 21st February 2017 at 10:42 pm

Ahhh thanks Amy!! I think he’d quite happily go in alone as he’s so nosey, he just likes to stare at the other kids and explore… not sure I’m quite ready for that yet though!!

I love soft play, especially when my husband comes too, as I’d rather sit on the edge with a coffee and a book and watch him climb around with the kids. It’s such a great way for them to learn physically and burn off kiddy energy. Yvadney x

Exactly!!!! It’s brilliant isn’t it?! I love the book time too! x

I love a trip to the soft play. It’s a great place to let them practice their skills without the risk of injuries! Although I’m not able to sit on the sidelines. I like to be in there. I dont know who enjoys it more – me or T?!

    • DevonMamaOnline 21st February 2017 at 10:55 pm

Hahahahhahahaa! I’ll admit to being a touch jealous that the boys were having all the fun!! Well it’s nice for you to be able to burn off some energy as well!!

  • Shanice 22nd February 2017 at 2:51 am

Soft play is a nice change from being at home and having to continuously prevent them from touching things they shouldn’t. It’s especially good for when they’re learning to crawl/walk as they are free to explore their surrounding in a safe space.

    • DevonMamaOnline 23rd February 2017 at 12:24 pm

      It’s great for that! I think I’m a convert!!

  • Donna 22nd February 2017 at 12:43 pm

It looks like he had a great time at soft play! When ours started pulling themselves up and moving more we got rid of a lot of furniture – or moved the room around so it wasn’t in their way. Or, we’d put bumpers on the exposed edges – it made life so much easier! x

    • DevonMamaOnline 23rd February 2017 at 12:23 pm

HE loved it!! The whole house is now bump proof within reason, apart from the coffee table where he insists on pulling the bumpers off each time – who knew our child was so strong!

  • Lucie 22nd February 2017 at 4:03 pm

That looks like such a fun softplay! wish we had one round here like that! xx

  • Babies and Beauty 22nd February 2017 at 4:04 pm

Oh my I remember this stage well. You’re right it is so scary when they’re toddling around things like the table. We had many a bumps head.
