Living Arrows: Week Twenty Nine

As the summer continues and our holiday gets ever closer, I feel more and more in need of it. This week feels like it’s gotten away with us, it’s been so busy. Work continues on our house leaving us living out of a selection of suitcases and shopping bags at my parents. Between sorting builders, carpet fitters, work, holiday prep and a million other things, we’re counting down to some enforced rest like crazy people. In my head, I think it’ll be just like pre-baby holidays. Even though we went to Crete last year, I’m still imagining lazy days by the pool with a cocktail in hand. It will be relaxing. It will be calm. It will be.. mayhem.

Living Arrows Week Twenty Nine

I’ve talked about this little guy’s independent streak lately a lot. Boy, oh boy, those tantrums are coming thick and fast. Last week we stole a moment with Mike from The AMP Photo Co. to get some family shots done (photo spam coming soon) and I love this image so much. He was so desperate to take the dog’s lead despite the fact she could pull him over any second. The look of pleasure on his face tells you how proud he is of himself. You can see my hand anxiously resting on Bella’s back to keep her from bolting off in the other direction. You can catch Dave praising him for being such a big boy. But wow, was there a price to pay when we had to take it back. Tears, screams and full body rigidity. Just the stage you want when you’re about to embark on an 8 hour plane journey in a couple of weeks.

Despite that, I’m really enjoying seeing the boy come through in him. He’s great company, despite the repeated games of ‘ball’ and ‘car’ and is incredibly loving when he wants to be. Life at the moment is hectic and all over the place but he’s been great even with the upheaval. He spends his mornings thudding in to my parent’s room to greet them, demanding stories to be read and bossing around four adults instead of two. He’s in the garden with them in the evenings, racing around the house and insisting on making them do his every whim. And despite the tiredness and the annoyance of living out of suitcases I think we’ll all be sad when this adventure ends and we move home. None more so than him.

I love this stage where they really start to develop their own proper little personalities. So cute! And tiring at the same time! #LivingArrows

You could be describing Thomas to a tee. Yesterday he really wanted a go with the power jet. We were worried he’d end up backwards and obviously we were trying to clean stuff. But let him have a go and his face was pure delight. Followed by a 5 minute tantrum when we took it away again. Felt awful! He’s so frustrated when he can’t do things physically – it’s like short man syndrome!

Bahahaha, this is exactly it!! Today he had a strop because I took a glass off of him. He’d stolen it from the side and could barely hold it but apparently it was his entire life judging by the screams!

An absolutely gorgeous shot of a boy who seems to have grown into a small child overnight! Where has your little baby gone? So excited to see the rest of the shoot.

I know!!! Where did he go?! I’m starting to think we’re going to have to exchange him for a new one. I’m not ready to have a child child!!

As annoying as living out of suitcases can be, isn’t it glorious when there is someone else there when you just want that extra five minutes in bed?!

Im sure you wont need to encourage grandparent afternoon walks all too much on holiday, so may still get a cocktail or two!

It IS lovely. Although today they’re away and he slept in far later without them crashing around. I just need to build a granny annexe for them to sleep at ours in!
