Review: SENSSE Silicone Facial Brush And Hot & Cool Toning Bar

A couple of weeks ago I got the chance to go to the spa for the day. A birthday present worth waiting for. Mum life is a constant hustle. Whether you’re juggling work, home, playgroups, supermarkets… there’s always something that needs doing. Which means looking after yourself is bottom of the list and often riddled with mum guilt when you do. So a day where I was ‘forced’ to focus on me was delightful. I came away vowing to take a little more time to look after myself. Treat myself to a bit of TLC. Stop sleeping in the make-up I’d whacked on in 30 seconds flat that morning and actually take a little care.

As luck would have it, as I drove home I received an email asking if I’d like to test and review some SENSSE facial products. The SENSSE Silicone Facial Cleansing and Exfoliating Brush and the SENSSE Hot and Cool Ultrasonic Skin Tightening Facial Toner and Eye Massager to be precise. Snappy names aside, I was intrigued. Beauty products are so not me, I’m still using eyeshadows that I had in my teens. But… my new resolution firmly in my mind I decided to give it a go. So here we go, here’s what I thought.

SENSSE Silicone Facial Cleansing & Exfoliating Brush

Straight away I fell a little in love with the SENSSE products. The packaging was clean, white and frankly, a little gorgeous. Opening the silicone brush up, I was surprised at it’s size. It’s palm sized and pink in colour – something that was a little off putting at first. Reading about it on Amazon, SENSSE promise that using this for seven days will give me radiant youthful skin so clearly they’re up for a challenge but I can see how it would work. A simple charge later and we were ready to go.

I chose to use the brush in the shower in the mornings given that it’s waterproof for up to one meter. To use, you apply your cleanser directly to your face and then move the brush over the different areas; cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. Every 15 seconds the brush pauses it’s vibrations to let you know it’s time to move to the next zone. After you’re done, you just dry and apply moisturiser as per usual.

The brush has six different intensity levels, I found that I preferred the stronger ones. I like to feel that my face is scrubbed clean and this certainly did the trick. However, I like that you can use the lighter ones if you’re feeling a bit more fragile – or post holiday for example to preserve that tan! After three minutes it automatically shuts off, a function which apparently means you can get 180 uses per charge… not that I’ve made it to that stage just yet. It does mean you can take it away with you with no issues and they include a handy storage bag for this purpose!

SENSSE Hot & Cool Ultrasonic Facial Toner and Eye Massager

I’ll be honest. I’m just going to call this the hot and cold bar. SENSSE claim that this bar will give you an instant refresh and they’re not wrong. It’s lovely to hold it on your temples on the cool setting and move it around your eyes. The bar goes up to 42 degrees in hot mode and is meant to increase blood circulation and muscle relaxation. It then cools to 6 degrees to soothe muscles and revive tired skin. At each temperature there’s an ultrasonic massage that can be activated – in heat mode it helps your skin absorb moisturiser and in cool mode it helps relieve tension.

It’s quite impressive that it can go from hot to cold very, very quickly. And I got a lot of enjoyment from moving it around my face to give me a massage as well as using it to combat a headache I felt coming on (ahhh parenting) but aside from that, I found this bar difficult to use. Part of this was down to me not fully grasping how to change between all of the functions, something I should have taken more time to understand. I found it less intuitive than the facial cleansing brush. I think a lot of this is down to me being lazy with my skin care but I just couldn’t get to grips with it. If you were more into beauty products then this would be perfect, but for me, it turned in to a luxurious massage tool rather than a part of my daily routine.

Overall

A bit of a mixed bunch. I love the cleansing and exfoliating brush and at £39.99 currently it’s a pricey but worthwhile investment. Unfortunately the hot and cold bar wasn’t for me and at £59.99 it would be a step too far. One of the great things about all SENSSE products though is that they’re backed with a 60 day money back satisfaction guarantee so I feel confident that I’d be covered, whatever my choice. Oh and my daily bit of taking time for me? Well, it’s rushed in somewhere between the shower and the basin but it’s there. My skin may not feel younger but it feels a little more loved. I’ll take that!

You can purchase the SENSSE Silicone Facial Cleansing and Exfoliating Brush from Amazon for £39.99 or the SENSSE Hot and Cool Ultrasonic Skin Tightening Facial Toner and Eye Massager from Amazon for £59.99.

I think I’d want someone to be doing these for me! A face massage sounds divine but I wonder if I could train my 4 year old as a therapist ????????
