Pregnancy Calendar - Week Thirty Two

Pregnancy Calendar: Week Thirty Two

Use our pregnancy calendar to see what’s happening in your pregnancy each week.

Practice makes perfect! Here’s what you can expect from week thirty two of your pregnancy.

Your Baby:

Weighs just under 4lbs!

Has perfectly formed finger and toenails now

If born now, has a great chance of survival without any long term medical issues

You:

Could start feeling Braxton Hicks contractions this week

Are probably counting down to maternity leave

If you’re considering a baby shower, you may want to have it in the next few weeks!

Week Thirty Two

With all that fat accumulation, your baby will no longer have a slightly transparent appearance, if they were born now they’d resemble a smaller version of themselves at full term; fully opaque, toenails and fingernails, hair… everything present and correct. At the moment they’ll be practicing kicking, swallowing, breathing; everything that’s needed for life outside of the womb!

Speaking of practicing, you may find you start feeling Braxton Hicks contractions, otherwise known as practice contractions. You’ll find that your uterus tightens and feels like it’s going hard for a short period of time (anything up to two minutes!). Some women find they get them a lot, others don’t ever feel them. With my son, I fell into the not feeling them category, although this time, I think they’re coming! Obviously, you want to be looking out for signs of premature labour, so it’s important to try and tell the difference between Braxton Hicks and actual contractions. Real contractions will be more regular, will increase in intensity and will continue if you move positions. If you’re concerned though, give your midwife a ring. There’s no shame in getting checked out!

Other fun things this week: Okay, so this week has been pretty cute. It’s been the first week that the toddler has acknowledged that there’s a baby in mummy’s tummy. Sure, it was by beating my stomach whilst shouting a muddled version of ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ in the same rough direction, rounded off with licking me but the thought was there. Adorbs.
