Why Skiing Is A Great Family Holiday

With so many different routes to take with a skiing holiday and a wealth of different location options, it’s easy to see why so many families are choosing to get into the sport. Whether you’ve got a couple of years’ experience under your belt, or are a complete novice, don’t be put off by thinking this kind of holiday is complicated or expensive.

Families can easily spend just as much, if not more money, on a summer holiday; why not swap your summer break for a winter break with the kids (and maybe do a couple of city breaks if you’re in need of some summer sunshine!).

There’s not just skiing for everyone to do

Holidaying in the alps doesn’t just involve donning a pair of skis and doing run after run, there are so many other activities that are perfect for everyone!

Why not take the kids to a local bum-boarding area and have fun flying up and down a mini slope? The grownups could even try their hand at a different sport such as snowboarding, Norway cross country skiing or telemark skiing.

Fancy something off the mountain? Head to the nearest town, get your skates on a try your hand at ice-skating! Not one for balance? Don’t worry, many towns and villages have chocolate workshops, local swimming pools, seasonal markets and more!

Learn and holiday, all at the same time!

If you’re new to the sport, then worry not. It’s incredibly easy to get everyone enrolled in ski school and away you go. If you have young children, these group sessions are perfect for them to learn the skill and have fun with children of the same age. For the grownups it’s the same. Make friends and get taught in the best environment, on the top of a mountain!

You’ll never be able to beat the view

There truly is nothing better than reaching the top of a ski lift, looking out and seeing the vast expanse of mountains and snow. As busy as a resort may or may not be, you’ll be in awe of the tranquillity and peacefulness of the area you’re visiting. For the children, it’s a wonderous place, where they can build snowmen, have snowball fights and experience snow like no other.

It’s more hassle-free than you imagine

Once you’ve reached the resort and depending on the package you have booked, you’ll often get everything rolled in together. This could be everything from flights, transfers, accommodation, ski hire and lift passes! Where else can you holiday where everything is done for you. This will take a lot of the stress out of making sure your lift passes get to your chalet or heading to the local hire centre to pick up your skis and boots.

Wherever you decide to have your next action-packed adventure, give skiing a try. There are so many benefits and it’s the perfect family vacation if you’re wanting activities, social elements and less hassle.
