The summer holidays always seem like they’ll last forever – that could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your point of view! But all good things must come to an end, and with the end of summer comes the anticipation of the kids heading back to school. There’s a lot to remember when it comes to the kids back to school needs, and it’s pretty easy to get overwhelmed with everything you need to budget for and remember. Bags, shoes, coats, new trainers, pencil cases – it’s even more difficult if you have more than one child to buy for! So, to make things a little easier I’ve come up 5 items you need to remember for the big day! Good luck!
Printer Ink
Does your printer have any ink? When was the last time you used it? Will it be able to handle all your printing needs in September? When the kids start bringing homework and projects home, you’re going to need have enough printer ink cartridges to see you through all the assignments, book reports and projects your little ones need to work on. Make sure you have enough paper too!
A Drinks Bottle
We all need to drink more water, but it’s never been more important for your kids to stay hydrated whilst they’re at school. Getting enough fluid throughout the day means that they can concentrate and won’t potentially feel poorly due to the effects of dehydration. Make sure you help them pick a snazzy new water bottle that will encourage them to drink plenty throughout their school day.
Stationary
Chances are your child will already pick out a pencil case and fill it with all the stationary they’re going to need to get them through the school year. However, it’s always a good idea to have plenty of supplies at home that can help them work with projects and homework. Pencils, glue, crayons, felt tips, paper, rulers, rubbers, pens and highlighters will all come in handy. And when they inevitably loose most of the stationary they bought in September, at least you’ll have some back up supplies!
A Label Maker
The humble label maker will ensure that all your child’s school books, bags, stationary and clothing will stay with their owner and not get lost or misplaced. Make sure you spend a good amount of time before school starts, making plenty of labels for everything that could go awry.
Tupperware
There’s nothing like a lovely new lunch box to get kids excited about lunch! However, its also a good idea to invest in some Tupperware so the kids can take things in like sandwiches, veggie sticks, fruit slices, raisins and sultanas etc without them making a mess in your kids new lunch bag. Having Tupperware is better than using plastic or foil wrap as it’s kinder to the environment. It’s cheap, easy to clean and you can get it in all shapes and sizes! Don’t forget to use your label maker!
