In the run up to the Christmas period, you’re probably looking for ways to make a bit of extra cash to pay for everything. There are all sorts of different ways that you can make a bit of pocket money online but that might not be necessary because there might be hidden money around the home already. Most people collect clutter that they just don’t need and you could be sitting on some very valuable items without even realising it. Before you start thinking about taking on any extra work, look around the house to see if you’ve got any of these hidden sources of income.
Designer Clothes
When you buy new clothes, do you chuck out some old stuff to make space or do you just push it to the back of the wardrobe and pack more in? Most people do the latter and so you’ve probably got loads of old clothes that nobody ever wears anymore lying around the house. A lot of that stuff isn’t going to be worth that much but you can still make a little extra cash selling it at car boot sales. But if you’ve got any designer clothes lying around, they’re still worth a decent amount of money even though they’re second hand. If you put them up on eBay, you’d be surprised just how much money you could make from them. You could also take them down to a local vintage shop and see what they’ll give you for them. It’s an easier option but you won’t get quite as much money for them.
Furniture
Most old furniture will fetch you a fairly good price if you put it up on Gumtree or eBay but some pieces are an absolute goldmine. For example, any furniture from the iconic designers Charles and Ray Eames are worth a lot of money these days. A lot of people end up coming across these pieces as hand me downs from older relatives and don’t realise that they’re literally sitting on a goldmine. It’s worth checking any old furniture because there is a large online marketplace to sell Eames furniture. Some of this stuff will sell for thousands so if you’re not attached to the furniture, it’s a good way to earn lots of money quickly.
Mobile Phones
Everybody has that drawer in their house that is just filled with old junk. If you’re looking for something that doesn’t have a specific place, it’s probably in there. Nowadays, those drawers end up as a graveyard for old phones and when everybody is getting an upgrade every year or two, you’ll probably have quite a few in there. Even if they’re broken, you can still get money for them from sites like Mazuma Mobile. Newer phones will sell for quite a lot but even the broken ones are worth selling because they’re just cluttering up the house anyway.
Most of us have these hidden money sources in the home right now so why not take advantage of them and earn some extra cash before Christmas?
