Festive Fashion From Femme Luxe Finery

When it comes to finding my festive fashion feet, I think it’s safe to say that I’ve been lacking. As a mum of two little ones, I’m someone that firmly sits in her comfort zone. Jeans, long sleeved tees and a cardigan over the top form 95% of my winter wardrobe… mum uniform through and through! But as we go through the festive season I knew that it was time for me to branch out a little further. That’s right, aim for something more than just jazzing up an outfit with a different scarf. It was time to re-assess my winter wardrobe. So when Femme Luxe Finery gave me the opportunity to pick out some new festive favourites I figured this is my chance!

As someone that can be quite self conscious with trying new styles, I took the approach of working on different shapes rather than new colours. Like many mums, I have a variety of lumps and bumps that weren’t there (or rather were less lumpy and bumpy!) pre-children, so for me it made sense to stick within my comfort zone and aim for dark, block colours that would flatter my body shape and give a streamlined illusion.

I’ve tried to pick out a couple of key pieces that I could accessorise up or down depending on the event. The beauty of the site is that the outfits are very affordable, making them ideal for the party season! Fancy seeing what I selected? Here we go…

The Oversize Mini Sweater Dress – ‘Ola’

I love a sweater mini dress, especially at this time of year as it’s comfy, cosy and perfect for wearing for those big indulgence days – who wants restrictive waistbands when there’s roast dinner on offer?! Pair this black oversize sweater dress with leggings and knee high boots for a relaxed look or with opaque tights and heels for a look which will take you from daytime through to drinks time. One of my favourites for a lux look with minimal effort required!

The Ribbed Culotte Jumpsuit – ‘Catalyn’

Jumpsuits are a fairly new part of my wardrobe, but I feel like I’m incredibly late to the party. The ribbed culotte jumpsuit oozes effortless glamour and would be ideal either dressed down for work or jazzed up for a night out. As much as I love a good dress for a party, a jumpsuit offers a more streamlined silhouette. Thanks to the cut of the bottom half with the Catalyn jumpsuit, you get all the swish and shaping of a dress with more ease of movement for pulling out those moves on the dance floor. What’s more, they keep you far warmer than a dress would… just be prepared to have to strip slightly for the toilet! I see this jumpsuit as lasting well into the summer season as well if paired with a lighter jacket and heels for Spring/Summer get togethers as well as working with a blazer for work meetings. A real workhorse of an outfit and one that will certainly earn it’s place in your wardrobe and I love the zip detailing on the back.

The Shirt Mini Dress – ‘Jayden’

The shirt dress style is a hugely flattering style on many different body shapes thanks to the v shaping around the chest. This shirt mini dress comes complete with a thigh split giving it that edge of glamour to a dress that could otherwise be resigned to the work wardrobe. For me, I’m not hugely comfortable with wearing a mini dress style on it’s own so I prefer to style this with skinny jeans or leggings and wear it as a long shirt rather than an actual dress. I opted for the navy version (a brief splash of colour in this otherwise black selection!) but it’s also available in a white or khaki version as well. For the more daring, I’d pair this with heels and tights for a party night out – just whip off the jeans. For those more like myself, it’s a great look for more casual meet ups where you want to look a little fancy but still effortless,

The Cropped Long Sleeved Jumper – ‘Mila’

Perfect paired with a longer skirt for either day or night time, this cropped long sleeved jumper is a winter favourite from the word go. The cropped jumper length means you don’t have the huge amount of fabric you’d usually want to tuck in and gives a great shape to highlight (or create) an hourglass waist. There’s something unbeatable about the ability to pull your hands slightly inside a long sleeved jumper for a snuggle and this allows exactly that. Again, I predict this will be a real staple of my winter wardrobe… especially on those days when I want the added cosy factor!

And that’s it for now, throw in some leggings and my trusty pair of skinny jeans and I think I’m pretty set to hit the festive period in style. What about you?
