Living Arrows: Week Five

I’m not often the one in the photo. Normally, I’m hiding behind the camera (or phone) yelling like crazy to get his attention and smiling like an idiot to try and elicit a smile back. Normally. When I do make it in, we grin like cheshire cats. It’s lovely and a memory and.. not entirely real.

That’s why this week, I’m loving this shot of me and my boy. He’s been full of yet another cold so he’s clingy as hell. He’s dropped all of his daytime naps (great!) and he wants to be up, then down, then back up again. I’ve had an awful week at work and it’s made me really appreciate my time with this little guy. There’ve been times when I’ve longed to just walk out the door and go hug him but I know he’s having the time of his life playing with his friends. He barely notices I’m gone which is both heartbreaking and wonderful at once.

Living Arrows Week Five. See our week by week progress through the year.

Usually I hate photos of me where I’m not prepared. The critical me looks at this and sees lumps, bumps and a lot of baby hair fuzz (on me. His hair is, as ever, incredible!). I’m determined to see past all of that though and enjoy this brief, unposed moment of motherhood before he scrabbles off again in search of another toy.

    You look beautiful Hayley.

I’m sorry you had such a hard week at work. Do you know that you are always so chirpy and lovely; I had no idea what a difficult time you were having and that is testament to what a lovely person you are.

I hope this week is easier on you xx
