It’s official, now that December’s here, it’s legal to put your decorations up! With the new extension in place, we splashed out on a new tree (which technically has been up and out of it’s box for a few weeks now – shhh!) and this weekend we got to grips with decorating it. With a toddler.
Despite my fears, he’s been remarkably good. He loved playing with the lights and is fascinated when we put them into party mode, even if it does make me fear he’ll have some form of fit from all the flashing. When it comes to baubles, I’ve strategically placed the breakable ones near the top and put the softer or wooden ones within his reach. Not that he’s actually that interested. He likes to point out the ‘man’ (Father Christmas) and the stars and demands that we shake the snow globe so that he can see the ‘no’ but that’s it. All that worry for nothing!
His language now is absolutely flying and we’re on to about sixty words at my last count. He’s become a right mimic, but then quickly uses the word on his own in the right context at a later time. From telling me off, to demanding his dinner, to chatting about his friends at nursery, you can have the beginnings of a proper conversation with him. Between that, and his urge to ‘hide’ behind his hands, he’s become a right little character and a joy to be around. Most of the time!

Ah this is so lovely and it’s great when you can have little conversations with them isn’t it? #LivingArrows
It’s so nice! Feel like you can actually understand him a little more!
Oh my goodness – he’s really coming on leaps and bounds now. I wish Henry would ignore the tree thought! #LivingArrows
So quickly – where did these babies of ours go?!
Aww lovely photos. This time of year is so magical for the little ones. Lovely reading how week your little one is doing and how much he is learning. Olivia likes to tell me off too.
Bossy little things aren’t they?!
Sixty words is incredible! We are still on about six here and still no Mummy or Mama! I cannot wait for that precious moment.
It’s come on so much!! Mummy is DEFINITELY lovely although it does get a bit grating in the middle of the night. Especially when he switches to Daddy the minute I get him!
It sounds like he is being so good with the tree – this Christmas will be just so exciting for you all. He can really understand it now x
I’m looking forward to it so much – just the couple of decorations stolen so far!
I love that top picture – he looks so mesmerised by the lights. Both my boys have been remarkably unbothered by the tree this year too 🙂 #LivingArrows
He’s very attached to them – even now he likes to run toward the tree and point out the lights! I’m terrified he’s just going to keep going and bring the whole thing back down on him!
