After a week away, it’s back to reality with a bump today. We woke up to dark and drizzle… what a lovely way to start the week! In a bid to cheer my Monday up, I’m ignoring that and focusing on last week; our holiday!
On Monday we packed the toddler off to nursery for the morning whilst we packed and shopped. I can’t remember the last time we had a quiet morning together, just Dave and I, but I definitely remember now why I don’t take him to Tesco with me – he’s a nightmare! Thankfully, by lunchtime we were ready and loaded up, so with the dog in the back and the nursery collection done, we were off! We arrived with the tail end of Storm Ophelia battering the beach making it terrifically windy and blowing up sand everywhere. It led to a very short beach walk, a very sandy family and a little boy who refused to walk because he just kept being blown away!
Thankfully, after that the wind was far more manageable and we had a wonderful few days on a very quiet beach. It was a great mix of sunshine and rain but that’s the best (and worst) thing about toddlers; they don’t care! We built sandcastles in the rain, slid down sand dunes in the wind and ate far too much at all other times. We knew the beach would be a success but I don’t think we ever imagined it would be quite so popular; we would have tantrums nightly about having to leave, even when we promised to come back the next day.
Our little trip was over far too quickly (as most holidays are!) and by Friday we were packing up again and heading home. It was so nice to have a week just the three of us without the interruptions of work or those other bits and bobs that steal your time at home. Our normal lives are so hectic and as we waved Dave off to work this morning, I felt a little sad at how little time the boys get to spend together during the week. That said, it’s nice to be back in our own beds!!

So lovely to see him enjoying himself on the beach. Beach photos are the best photos aren’t they?
#LivingArrows
They are!!! I think it’s the space and the fact that it just feels like a wholesome family activity!
He is in his element there isn’t he! Love that he is also rocking the red hunter wellies! We just need to get Dex a pair now!
It’s a trend!! I love them so much, I don’t want him to grow out of them because I can’t justify them again!!
We do lots of Monday – Friday breaks and they just zip by! #LivingArrows
So quickly! I feel like I blinked and missed it!
Love the golden light in that first photo. So nice to get to the beach any time of year #livingarrows
The light was one of the best things there, just gorgeous sunsets!!
We love the beach too! My 3 year old has taken a while to embrace it, but now he could spend hours there. And we definitely still have the tantrums when it’s time to go! #livingarrows
I’m glad to hear we’re not the only ones!
These photos are lovely. I understand what you mean about kids and shops they don’t match do they?! As for sand my youngest keeps eating ours here! #LivingArrows
We had a few sand pies as well, the faces that were pulled trying to spit it out!
It looks like you had such a lovely time – and he looks so at home on the beach! I can’t go to the supermarket with my husband either! x
He drove me crazy!!! The beach is definitely a hit, not that I thought it wouldn’t be as we go so often but all of our beaches are pebble!
