Errr, where did Summer go? I know it’s terribly British to start with the weather but it’s linked… trust me! Having spent the end of the week enjoying (apparently the last of) the sunshine, we woke up yesterday to rain, rain and more rain. Is it wrong to admit I love it a little?! That, combined with a dog in need of a walk and a child full of beans since 6am there was only one thing for it… a muddy puddle hunt!
We bought some wellies a couple of months ago but have never had the chance to put him on them. I was worried he wouldn’t cope with boots and he’s spent most of the summer barefoot anyway. Unfortunately, sending him out barefoot in torrential rain would probably be frowned upon so wellies it was. And guess what? He loved them! We kitted him out in his wet weather gear and set off; dog, buggy, toddler and the two of us. Dave sporting full wet weather gear. Myself sporting a thin jacket. Probably a mistake!
It’s the first walk we’ve been on where he’s walked the majority of the time. As we made our way around the loop, we had to stop every couple of paces to splash in even the tiniest of puddles. We had to say hello to the ‘moos’ (aka. cows), have a sit on a steam roller (they’re resurfacing our lane) and even had a little chase of the, thankfully empty, buggy when someone forgot to put the brake on at the top of the hill. Looking down at him walking along in his own little world made me realise just how much of a boy he’s become. His baby-ness is disappearing by the moment. He even took a wander off into a field that had the gate open, all the way in, without even a backward glance for us. Followed by a face-plant into the mud and lots of screams for mummy. Well, it’s nice to still be needed!

Love this! I cannot wait for the youngest to be on her feet properly so we can enjoy puddle jumping! #LivingArrows
It was so much fun! You know when you look down and just feel this huge sense of family-ness?! That happened!
These photos are amazing! I can’t wait to do things like this; Autumn is definately my favourite time of year. He looks like such a little cutie! #LivingArrows
I’m so glad he can enjoy it!! I’m loving our (very slow) autumn walks.
When my nephew was 17 months old, he refused to wear any footwear which wasn’t a welly. This is your eight week warning! 🙂
That’s fine, these are Hunter wellies… everyone will think he’s super posh and a little kooky when he turns up in these and a nappy!
Such lovely photos. I adore his wet weather gear. We had a similar experience this week but our involved a wet sandy stream…oh the mess it entailed!
This has made me excited for winter now!
Snap!! Although by next week I’ll be bored stiff of it!
It sounds like those wellies were a good investment! It feels very much like autumn this week, I have no idea what happened to the weather either! x
It’s definitely taken an autumnal turn, I love it though!
Oh they grow up so quickly don’t they! We wore wellies for the first time yesterday and Kipper really struggles to walk in them. I love the yellow raincoat I always think they brighten the dullest of days x #LivingArrows
Far too fast!! We struggle with the wellies but I’m persevering, he spent the whole summer with no shoes on so I think the whole shoe concept is a bit bizarre to him right now!
