Today is my baby’s birthday. One. Gulp. But I’ll have to save that self-indulgent wallow for later this week as I’m currently off celebrating. I’m actually writing this whilst watching Eurovision on Saturday night (sorry for breaking the illusion) prior to any celebrations beginning. It’s an attempt to take some time to properly focus on family and my boy so instead of birthday plans, I’ll tell you all about our lovely slow paced week!
This week he’s learnt a whole new expression. In a hilarious development he’s learnt to properly wrinkle up his nose. Whether that’s to screw his face with a grin or screw up his face at something he doesn’t like. I love it and truly hope to capture it on camera soon to share with you all.
My favourite part of the week has been taking a walk down to the river on Saturday. We walk a lot with the dog but it’s been a long time since we’ve been here as it’s had cows in for ages. It’s one of our favourite spots so it was lovely to take the boy for the first time. I love this photo of him and our dog. They’re like a comedy duo around the house, tolerating and entertaining each other constantly. He finds her a constant source of interest and she finds him a constant source of… food. This shot just sums up their friendship perfectly.
After an hour of playing in the grass and exhausting the dog in the river, we headed back across the fields home. We timed it perfectly and managed to get home just in time for the heavens to open and scupper our gardening plans, luckily we had Eurovision to watch. We couldn’t help but spend the evening comparing it to Eurovision last year – we didn’t actually get to watch it as I went into labour and a couple hours later we were parents. This year it’s been far less eventful!
Oh and before I forget… Happy Birthday Baby. x

Happy Birthday little man! I love this picture, I hope you don’t mind me sharing it on my instagram earlier? I think showing kids how to be kind to animals is so important and you can see their bond in your dogs face there…. beautiful moment x
I don’t mind at all – very flattered!! I love the relationship they have together. I’d never leave them alone unattended (mostly because my child is a brute) but they’re like two little shadows around the house… I feel like the pied piper!! x
Happy birthday gorgeous boy. How is he a year old already? Doesn’t seem possible!
I know, when did THAT happen? I feel so confused about the whole thing, happy and sad all at once!

It sounds like your boy and the dog have such a great relationship. Happy Birthday to him – I hope he had a wonderful day and I love how green it is around where you live, there is nothing like that here x
They do! It’s lovely to see them together. It’s so green, I forget how lucky we are as you tend to take it for granted! x
