Oh my little independent boy. It feels like he’s caught between two places at the moment; a need for independence and a desperate urge to cling to his mama. I love moments like this where I can pretend he’s still a baby. The end of the week always tends to be packed with things to do as I attempt to cram a week of parenting and family life into two days. And this is the result… an exhausted boy that’s finally given in in the short car ride out to lunch.
That moment lasted the briefest of times. As always. Then my independent boy was back and quickly racing across the garden toward the cars. So a relaxing lunch all round! That urge to explore, alone, hasn’t gone away. There’s barely a backward glance these days as he runs off. It’s taught us that we need to be more consistent with what we’re telling him, especially when we say ‘no’. Currently he finds it hilarious when we tell him not to do something; meeting our requests for him to come back with a giggle and a run in the opposite direction. IF he acknowledges us at all.
This weekend we’ve been fruit picking and watched Dave compete in his first triathlon, which has meant a lot of me corralling this one. This has pretty much been my view all weekend!

He’s perfect.
Such a beautiful face and also those leggings are to die for!!
Hope Dave survived the triathlon; what is it with our husbands insisting on being so damn fit?
They’re SO cute!!! I know. I feel so unfit in comparison. What’s worse is he makes it looks so darn effortless!
