Review Grimm's Rainbow 12 Pieces

Review: Grimm’s Rainbow (12 Pieces)

Wooden toys; there’s just something about them isn’t there? I’m not sure what the appeal is, whether it’s their old fashioned charm or the fact that they feel far more educational. I can’t put my finger on it, but I’m drawn to them. In our house we’ve got trolleys, buses and blocks, but there’s one toy I’ve coveted for a while… a Grimm’s Rainbow. I’d stalk them online and get envy at photos on Instagram that showed them off. But are they really worth the investment? We take a look at that and more with this 12 piece Grimm’s Rainbow review.

Grimms Rainbow (12 Pieces)

What Is A Grimm’s Rainbow?

The Grimm’s rainbows are infamous. They’re handcrafted with simple designs before being hand-dipped in non-toxic food dye. This gives them a instantly recognisable style; matte, textured and vibrant. The rainbow is one of the best known pieces; available in the original colours, pastel shades, monochrome or natural versions, they’re a classic. There’s even a sunset Grimm’s rainbow now that I’m coveting for the nursery!

What’s A Grimm’s Rainbow Used For?

A Grimm’s rainbow looks beautiful on display but the true fun starts when you let your little ones loose with it. Instantly it’s a range of tunnels and bridges for cars, a stacking set, curves to rock on the floor or even bits to bash your mother on the head with, if your child is anything like mine. The idea behind wooden toys like this is that they allow your little one’s imagination to run wild because they can be used in so many different ways.

Is The Grimm’s Rainbow Worth The Money?

I love the vibrancy of the colours and it feels like great quality. Put simply, it is gorgeous. That said, it’s £57.95 which isn’t cheap so I’d expect it to look good and last well for that price. I like the fact that it’s a toy that will encourage my son’s imagination – paired with some wooden people, it would be ideal for that.

How Big Is The Grimm’s Rainbow?

It’s a nice size at 38cm long and 18cm wide and the individual rainbow curves are all hunky enough to be handled by little people day in day out. I’d be a bit worried about how well it would last if it was beaten around the living room like most of our toys. Especially at that price. But that’s just me wanting to keep it pristine because it’s so darn picture worthy.

I just think the rainbow is so beautiful that one day it could just count as decoration! I love the variety of ways you’ve found to play with it too. Really lovely photos!

I would HAPPILY have it as just decoration, I think I may have too because it really is gorgeous. It’s a little painful to watch him bash it around if I’m completely honest!

It looks absolutely gorgeous and I think my daughter would love it too. I don’t think I could justify the price though unless I saw it in a charity shop/car boot sale.

There are so many lovely pieces on One Hundred Toys, but like you I want them all!

Oh I LOVE these! But for me not for Alfie, I’d have much more fun!

It’s beautiful isn’t it? I keep looking at it lovingly whilst it’s being bashed around my head…

They’re amazing, I love all of the wooden ones – the Grapat ones as well. Basically I’m a sucker for toys.
